Join the Fight Against Dengue: Faisalabad Health Department Launches Massive Recruitment Drive for Dengue Patrol Workers

Faisalabad, Punjab — In a proactive step to curb the spread of dengue virus in the region, the District Health Authority Faisalabad has announced a major recruitment drive for Dengue Patrol Workers on a daily wage basis. This initiative is part of the Government of Punjab’s continued commitment to public health, specifically aimed at eradicating dengue through surveillance, fieldwork, and timely preventive measures.

The slogan “Dengue Se Bachao, Haath Milao Aur Ihtiyaat Karo” (Protect yourself from dengue, join hands and take precautions) highlights the importance of community involvement and government action in tackling the deadly disease.

Purpose of the Recruitment Drive

Dengue fever, transmitted by the Aedes mosquito, has become a recurring threat in various parts of Pakistan, especially during the monsoon season. The virus not only endangers lives but also places an enormous burden on the country’s healthcare system. Over the years, several outbreaks have led to increased hospitalizations, and even fatalities, making it essential to adopt aggressive surveillance and control strategies.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates interested in applying for the post must meet the following requirements:

  • Educational Qualification: Minimum Matric (10th grade) or Intermediate (12th grade). Preference may be given to more qualified candidates.
  • Age Limit:
    • Males: 18 to 35 years
    • Females: 18 to 33 years

These parameters are set to ensure that energetic and enthusiastic individuals, who are physically fit for fieldwork, are brought onboard.

Essential Requirements for Applicants

Applicants must fulfill a list of criteria to be eligible for the job. These include both technical skills and behavioral expectations:

  1. Android Smartphone: Each worker must own an Android phone with internet connectivity, as the entire surveillance and reporting process is digitized.
  2. Tech Proficiency: Candidates must know how to use Android smartphones and operate applications such as the PITB Dengue Surveillance App.
  3. Data Entry: Workers are expected to upload real-time field data to the PITB Dashboard every day.
  4. Field Duties: The job includes visiting houses, commercial areas, and open plots to inspect potential mosquito breeding grounds and eliminate them.
  5. Daily Work Target: Each worker must meet a daily quota of inspections.
  6. Biometric Attendance: Attendance is strictly monitored through a biometric system. Incomplete work or absence may lead to termination.
  7. Punctuality & Discipline: Candidates must demonstrate professional behavior and punctuality in all assigned tasks.

Application Timeline and Process

The recruitment process begins on June 1, 2025, and the deadline to submit applications is June 14, 2025. Interested individuals can collect the application form from the office of the Chief Executive Officer, District Health Authority Faisalabad.

Selected candidates will undergo training to effectively use the PITB surveillance tools, understand basic entomology, and follow health and safety guidelines during field activities.

Importance of the Dengue Patrol Role

Dengue Patrol Workers are the frontline defense in the war against dengue. Their role extends beyond just monitoring; they act as educators, health ambassadors, and community mobilizers. By informing local populations about preventive practices—such as removing stagnant water, using mosquito repellents, and keeping homes clean—they empower citizens to take ownership of their health.

A Step Towards Digital Governance

One of the most noteworthy aspects of this initiative is the integration of digital technology into public health governance. The use of PITB’s applications ensures that:

  • Data is collected accurately.
  • Progress is monitored transparently.
  • Performance can be tracked and audited in real time.
  • Decision-making becomes data-driven.

Such digital governance not only boosts efficiency but also ensures that public funds and efforts are utilized effectively. It aligns with Pakistan’s broader vision of e-governance and digital transformation in public service delivery.

Conclusion

The Anti-Dengue Campaign in Faisalabad represents a critical step toward safeguarding public health and minimizing the impact of seasonal viral diseases. The recruitment of 150 Dengue Patrol Workers will not only strengthen the workforce but also set a precedent for proactive, tech-enabled governance.
